Position: Community Outreach Project Coordinator

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Outreach Coordinator (OC) is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing an outreach plan corresponding to the goals and objectives for prevention education and intervention services. The Outreach Coordinator (OC) engages in outreach and advocacy efforts to enhance the availability of services for underserved communities victims/survivors of sexual violence. Through education, coordination, and intervention, the OC strives to reduce barriers to services for sexual and victim-survivors. In partnership with program allies, healthcare providers, other community partners, and critical CVS staff, the OC will provide access to training opportunities and technical assistance to strengthen existing culturally sensitive trauma-informed help to victim-survivors and their families. The OC is responsible for providing intervention services to sexual assault victims.

Essential Duties:

· Responsible for the overall assessment of the current availability of services and the circumstances impacting sexual assault victim-survivors when seeking sexual assault services

· Assist with technical assistance activities, including training, identifying materials, providing information to organizations and individuals, and conducting follow-ups to assess the effectiveness of services available.

· Plans and conducts an outreach program to service providers, youth, and their allies to assist them in providing awareness of sexual violence

· Serves as a resource for presentations, training, and technical assistance to support community groups in providing a multidisciplinary response to services for victim-survivors of sexual violence.

· Serves as agency representative and ambassador in all internal and external interactions and communications in a manner that upholds CVS's mission and vision.

Qualifications: Required skills, knowledge and Ability:

· Strong analytical writing skills and oral communication skills, including public speaking, required

· Access to reliable transportation to travel as needed to complete job duties, valid Driver's license, and proof of insurance necessary

· Ability to develop and conduct presentations required

· Capacity to think and plan strategically

· Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office Suite

· Understanding of sexual violence issues, stalking, and program service provision and experience working in diverse communities, preferred

· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Ability to manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete assignments within established timeframes

· Draft project reports and manuals related to crisis intervention and counseling of sexual assault victims.

· Document all service delivery and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of service delivery to clients. Assist with administrative steps necessary to reach project goals.

· Able to obtain clearance with the California Department of Justice.

Education and Experience:

· Three years prior experience as an intern or staff advocate in a sexual violence program

· Bachelor's degree in social work, human services or related field, community development

· Combination of lived experience and either volunteer/advocacy experience in a domestic or sexual violence program or education in a human services-related field

· Must have at least three years of training and experience in crisis intervention.

· General understanding of dynamics and prevention of sexual violence and adolescents.

· Good oral and written communication skills

· Demonstrated Ability and sensitivity to diversity issues in a multicultural community—experience in working with adults, children, and families.

· Experience in implementing goals and objectives to meet grants and contracts.

· Highly motivated, organized, and responsible self-starter. Able to work as a team player within a large organization.
