Parent Coach Job Description

The Advocate, Intervene, Mentor (AIM) Program is a community-based initiative designed to support court-involved and at-risk youth and their families. AIM provides holistic services that combine mentoring, family coaching, and advocacy to reduce recidivism, strengthen family systems, and promote positive youth development. Mentors play a vital role in this mission by building trusting relationships with participants, modeling positive choices, and working alongside families, Parent Coaches, and program staff to foster resilience and long-term success. The Parent Coach provides guidance, education, and support to parents and caregivers of AIM participants. This hybrid role works closely with program mentors, the AIM Program Director, and other stakeholders to strengthen family relationships, promote positive parenting practices, and support participants in achieving their service plan goals.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers, AIM Program mentors, the Program Director, and Probation Officers to ensure consistent family engagement and collaboration.
  • Participate in on-site and off-site training as directed by the Program Director to enhance parenting support skills.
  • Collaborate with referral sources and provide feedback on family engagement, strengths, and needs related to the participant’s case.
  • Participate in monthly Family Team Meetings to discuss participant progress, family dynamics, unmet needs, and strategies to empower parents in supporting their child’s goals.
  • Assist with other related program tasks as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Monitor, assess, and document parent coaching sessions, family engagement activities, and participant progress toward family-related goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records regarding parent participation and family outcomes.

· Follow CMS policies and procedures in all areas of service delivery.

  • Model professionalism and the founding principles of CMS in interactions with families, staff, and community partners.
  • Enhance community awareness of family support services by participating in outreach, networking, and community-based activities.
  • Share knowledge of existing family resources and contribute new ideas for program enhancement.
  • Participate in unit initiatives and agency-wide committees, representing the voice of family engagement.
  • Meet regularly with the program supervisor for supervision, case consultation, and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing parent education, coaching, or family support services.
  • Knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System, Department of Probation, Family Court, and Alternatives to Detention (ATD) highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Optimistic and solutions-focused with a commitment to empowering families and promoting positive change.
  • Flexible and committed to meeting service delivery requirements.
  • Willingness to adapt work schedule based on program and family needs.
