What are the responsibilities and job description for the MHS I, PROVIDER ASSISTANT SPECIALIST (PAS) position at COMMUNITY HEALTH OF SOUTH FLORIDA INC?
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Mental Health Specialist I is responsible in completing treatment plans and treatment plans reviews for packages that are only receiving medication management services. In addition, the MHS I will assist providers in completing FARS/CFARS and outcome measures if necessary. Mental Health Specialist I is responsible for completing intakes as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Graduated from an accredited university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
Licensure / Certification:
CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.
Skills / Ability:
Proficiency in verbal and written skills. Possesses knowledge of FARS computer system. Administers behavioral rating scale, client certification and ASAM documentation forms. Possesses knowledge of Confidentiality and Patient Rights.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (THIS IS A NON-EXEMPT POSITION)
Provides care primarily for the following groups: •Infant • Pediat • Adolesc • Adult • Geriat
Provides high quality of services at all times in an outpatient Behavioral Healthcare component, with emphasis on age appropriate, bio-psychosocial issues.
Prepares for next day/week providers patient schedule. Ascertain which patients are only receiving medication management services. Works with other team members in completing this task if necessary.
Identifies which patients are due for a C/FARS, treatment plan/treatment plan review and outcome measures including discharge and admission.
Support the medical staff in preparing a treatment plan/update. Will present documentation to MD/ARNP and included the patient in the development of the treatment plan.
Maintains a daily log of productivity.
Facilitates daily, weekly education and counseling groups if necessary.
Develops/keeps a log of what required documentation is due.
Assures that clients charts are active and updated in a timely manner and they are sequentially ordered.
Participates in daily treatment team activities as a core treatment team member.
Works with the Contract Compliance Manager, Coordinators and Data Entry Staff to ensure that all provider documentation is completed per DCF/SFBHN (South Florida Behavioral Health Network) requirements.
Participates in in-patient and family education if required.
Monitors client’s ongoing needs, goals and progress.
Understands and applies knowledge pertaining to Community Health of South Dade, Inc. Behavioral Health Care Center policies and procedures at all times. The Mental Health Specialist I will always adhere to professional and ethical boundaries.
Demonstrates knowledge of current Behavioral Health practice ensuring proper judgment and decision-making guidelines.
Utilizes available time in a manner in which is consistent and emphasizes department compliance.
Performs all daily activities, ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
Provides brief, problem oriented counseling.
Maintains client confidentiality at all times.
Completes mandatory in-service training.
Attends required staff meetings.
Maintains current certifications.
Maintains compliance with regulatory entities.
Maintains effective interpersonal relationships.
Maintains 95% productivity monthly.
Reports to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism.
Completes B&E (billing and encounter) forms within the same day of intervention.
Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient charts within the same day of intervention.
Adheres to Confidentiality Policies and Procedures / HIPAA Regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
