Full-time Risk Specialist
The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking a full-time (40 hours) Risk Specialist based in the Human Resources department at its Christiansburg clinic.This position is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating clinical and organizational risk across the organization using regulatory expertise of a risk management professional, bridging the gap between frontline clinical operations and enterprise risk, compliance, and quality functions. Key Responsibilities:
- Incident Management: Intakes, investigates, and tracks patient grievances, safety events, and incident reports.Regulatory Readiness: Helps prepare for audits, site visits, and state or federal health inspections.Credentialing and Privileging Support: Assists with provider credentialing, privileging verification, and maintenance of staff records.Data & Reporting: Prepares risk data reports for Leadership and the Board of Directors and coordinates staff and Board Risk and Compliance Committee meetings.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business, Nursing, or a related field.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in healthcare compliance, risk management, or quality improvement a must. Knowledge: Familiarity with federally-qualified healthcare operations, Health Resources and Services Admin. guidelines, and FTCA liability requirements a plus.Skills: Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules, strong organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and excellent and professional written and verbal communication.
