What are the responsibilities and job description for the Developmental Specialist II position at COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS INC?
Community Connections Inc. is looking for a Developmental Specialist II to join our Day Center team based in Wareham, MA. In this role, you will support individuals with developmental and other disabilities by implementing therapy programs developed by Occupational, Physical, or Speech Therapists. You’ll also help ensure the safety, dignity, and quality of life for the individuals we serve. We are looking for someone with compassion, teamwork, and a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of others. The schedule for this role is 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
What You’ll Do as a Developmental Specialist II:
- Implement therapeutic programs developed by OT/PT/Speech consultants
- Support individuals with daily routines including mealtimes, toileting, transferring, feeding, and mobility
- Collect and maintain data to document progress toward DHSP goals
- Monitor and maintain adaptive equipment and coordinate repairs as needed
- Work collaboratively with therapists, equipment vendors, and team members
- Attend and participate in consumer-related meetings, trainings, and staff development
- Support individuals with behavioral challenges, using Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS)
- Ensure each individual’s health, safety, and general well-being
- Promote inclusion and community integration opportunities
What You’ll Need as a Developmental Specialist II:
- At least one year of experience implementing OT/PT/Speech therapy programs or working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field preferred
- Familiarity with therapy terms and equipment
- Ability to collect data and write progress notes
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required
- Ability to lift 30 lbs with assistance and support physical needs
