What are the responsibilities and job description for the Relief - Activities Assistant position at COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS INC?

Community Connections Inc. is looking for Activities Assistants to join our Explorers' team based out of South Yarmouth, MA. In this role you will work with adults with IDD and/or ASD by providing structured activities in small groups at various Explorers sponsored events. The Activities Assistant will help enhance social skills and allow participants to build life-long friendships in real-life situations. Some of the activities and events the Explorers do: hiking, cooking, community parades, movie nights, bowling, coffeehouse nights, biking, and more!
What You'll Do as an Activities Assistant:
- Ensure and safeguard C.C.I. consumers’ human dignity, rights and liberties. Maintain confidentiality with consumer’s request regarding disclosure of disabilities.
- Develop and expand opportunities for community integration and participation to address persons served personal interests while maintaining an atmosphere conducive to positive interactions between participants and community organizations and businesses.
- Assist with the set up and take down of events and activities
- Engage participants in the program to ensure consumer satisfaction
- Ensure the physical safety of participants and respond to any emergency needs
- Create varied opportunities to introduce people to each other, nurture a potential friendship and then be able to back away allowing the friendship to grow naturally.
What You'll Need as an Activities Assistant:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Acceptable criminal background check required
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and procedures manuals.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
