Community College Preparatory Academy is accepting applications for Student Support Coordinator . Applications may be reviewed periodically based on vacancies. This is a in person position with standards from 8:30am -5:00 pm. Salary is based on experience.

JOB SUMMARY 

 The Student Support Coordinator may manage a small caseload while acting as the initial contact for the Student Success Specialist team. This individual should evidence the skills of tolerance and patience as s/he provides academic coaching and assessment of student progress. The Coordinator should be a tactful listener who can practice strong interpersonal skills and transparent communication with both students and staff. S/he must be able to engage with various stakeholders in the organization using clear and consistent communication. Ultimately, the Specialist will serve as a collaborative link between students, the Student Success Specialist team, and the Director of Student Support.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

   TEAM SUPPORT

  • Serve as initial contact person to the Student Support team to provide support and address concerns. 
  • Design and facilitate professional development workshops to provide best practices and address areas for growth.  
  • Analyze performance data from the Student Support team to identify trends and ensure performance goals are met.  
  • Work with colleagues and external community organizations to identify community resources.  
  • Build the Student Success Specialist team’s professional capacity around student coaching and academic goal setting and data tracking. 
  • Work closely with the Director of Student Support and team members to implement strategies to improve the functioning of the Strategic Enrollment Management Unit.  

 

STUDENT SUPPORT & RETENTION 

  • Manage a caseload of no more than 40 students in academic and/or career and academic pathways. 
  • Assist students with problem-solving and critical thinking to include self-analysis and self-management. 
  • Assist students with the development of skills in time management organization, study skills and goal setting.
  • Systematically coach students in the process of barrier identification and problem-solving. 
  • Establish and monitor Student Success plans and reviewing student profiles. 
  • Conduct and track monthly meetings and bi-weekly wellness calls. 
  • Closely monitor students and work collaboratively with instructors to identify at-risk situations and opportunities to improve academic success. 
  • Assist in the planning and execution of student success plans.  
  • Provide proactive and timely outreach and intervention through a variety of methods to facilitate effective communication. 

 

RECRUITMENT  

  • Participate in citywide collaboration activities and outreach to recruit new students.  
  • Contribute to the design and facilitation of Introduction to CC Prep and returning student orientation. 
  • Conduct outreach activities to enroll new and returning students.  
  • Provide scheduling and technological support to online application completion.  
  • Review and cross-reference student data to identify prospects for re-enrollment and verify enrollment status. 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL ENGAGEMENT 

  • Maintain professional competence by attending staff development, programs, and other professional activities. 
  • Create an environment that is supportive while reinforcing the need for individual student accountability. 
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary team meetings and activities.  
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must possess a bachelor’s, master’s degree preferred in education or a related field. 
  • Demonstrate communication skills, including the ability to “meet people where they are”. 
  • Knowledge of online, hybrid, Zoom and other learning platforms. 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with little supervision. 
  • Application and knowledge of coaching strategies and how to use them in student support. 
  • Non-judgmental approach to building positive relationships with adult learners. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment in both academic and community settings. 
  • Ability to be flexible, prioritize and organized. 
  • Ability to use a variety of platforms and programs including Microsoft Office. 
  • Must have the ability to work under deadlines, to adapt to changing priorities and needs, to learn new technologies quickly and effectively


 WORKING CONDITIONS                                                                                                             

This is an in-person position based in Washington, D.C.   The position periodically may require travel within the D.C. Metro area, attending networking and community events, and teaching evening and weekend hours. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                                                            

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift heavy objects on a regular basis (approximately 25 lbs.).
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks with few breaks.

Salary : $68,000 - $80,000
