Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:
- Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Head Start, and Child Development Center.
- Clinical Health Services: Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant
Reports to: Grounds and Facilities Manager
Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for grounds maintenance and participate in minor facility repairs under the guidance of supervisor or tech.
Major Duties:
- Perform routine building and grounds maintenance including painting, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry and heating and ventilation system maintenance.
- Apply general knowledge of landscaping, various yard equipment, and tree care to upkeep buildings and grounds;
- Complete snow and ice removal.
- Maintain lawn and snow removal equipment as well as other tools in shop.
- Maintain sprinkler systems under direction of supervisor.
- Assist with building and moving furniture, medical devices or other equipment.
- Assist with unloading and storing supplies.
- Assist in monitoring inventory of maintenance parts, supplies and equipment, and report needs to supervisor.
- Complete administrative duties, such as filling out forms and reporting maintenance statuses to supervisor.
- Respond to emergency calls for maintenance and repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues bringing awareness to supervisor. .
- Work with and maintain relationships with contracted vendors.
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment as needed for safety.
- Communicate appropriately and positively with employees, contractors, and the public.
- Comply with all safety and health regulations.
- Work flexible hours, weekend and evenings.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and communications following CAPWN policy and HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:
- Outside work in extreme temperatures.
- Noise level often above average.
- On call maintenance emergencies during evenings and weekends
- Ability to work independently and with high degree of safety
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 75 pounds.
- Physically able to perform potentially physically demanding duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade: 2
- High school diploma/GED.
- Ability to work independently.
- Have valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors
Grade 3
- Meets minimum qualifications above.
- Minimum of one years’ experience in lawn care/maintenance, plumbing, electrical, or general construction or facilities upkeep.
Grade 4
- Meets minimum qualifications above.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in lawn care/maintenance, plumbing, electrical or general construction or facilities upkeep AND
- Have general working knowledge of HVAC systems.
