Overview: Overview: The Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc. (CAB) has been the County’s designated Community Action Agency since 1965, with the mission to eliminate poverty. CAB does so through the 5 program pillars of community building, employment/mentoring, immigration legal services, homelessness prevention and intervention services and special projects that serve over 10,000 people per year, with a staff of over 50 employees. Following an outcomes-focused approach, CAB/Alcance’s Luna y Sol (LyS) Youth and Family EVENING CENTER integrates evidence-based practices and addresses gaps in supports for youth and young adults and their families exposed to and/or harmed by poverty and violence. Providing services and linkages for South County youth (ages 12-17), their families and siblings such as basic necessities, wellness programs (restorative justice practices, substance use, and mental health), education/career exploration, economic opportunities, community engagement/ leadership, and family support/parenting workshops, LyS aims to increase well-being and safety, reduce harm, and build assets. LyS has strong partnerships with other community organizations, schools, probation and law enforcement agencies. This is a grant funded position.
Duties Include:
- Assist Operations Manager and LyS Staff with outreach and service provision to youth and families.
- Provide basic intake procedures with new youth accessing the drop-in center site.
- Provide youth and families who access the drop-in center with basic community resources.
- Support with inventory and basic site cleaning.
- Support with meeting coordination and event planning for the drop-in center.
- Greet youth and families during hours of operation.
- Support with basic data entry and systems management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bilingual and biliterate (Spanish/English) REQUIRED.
- High School diploma or GED, required
- Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Culturally competent and interested in working with diverse vulnerably persons.
- Commitment to non-judgmental, housing first service provision and empowering client choice.
- Strong initiative and willingness to pitch in as needed, Outstanding follow-through with tasks.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office Suite and Outlook) and social media skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
