DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position promotes safe driving by conducting standardized knowledge and skills tests and reviewing identity documents. You will help ensure that applicants meet legal requirements while supporting daily customer service needs. As a Driver License Examiner w/CDL, you will perform the following duties:
- Applicant Evaluation: Determine driving qualifications and check vehicle conditions for safety
- Test Administration: Conduct CDL and non CDL knowledge, pre trip, and road tests
- Document Review: Examine identity documents to identify fraud and confirm authenticity
- Customer Processing: Issue licenses, handle applications and provide service information
- System Access: Use databases to verify identity and eligibility for license products
- Regulation Compliance: Follow REAL ID rules and all customer service policies
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel as needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public .
- This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
