THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on conducting examinations, verifying identity documents, and assisting customers with licensing procedures to ensure safe and lawful driving. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:
- Applicant Evaluation: Determine driving qualifications and inspect vehicles for required safety features
- Test Administration: Conduct knowledge, vision, pre-trip, skills, and driving tests following established standards
- Document Verification: Review identity records, authenticate documents, and identify possible fraud
- Customer Processing: Issue license products and provide guidance on renewals, transfers, and license types
- Record Handling: Enter test results, process applications, and prepare restoration requirement letters
- Policy Compliance: Follow REAL ID rules, fee waiver guidelines, and customer service standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel as needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
