THE POSITION

Wyoming County Human Services is seeking a compassionate and driven County Social Services Aide 2 to join our Children and Youth Services team. In this pivotal role, you will work with experienced professionals, supporting casework activities that deliver critical services to families in our community. DESCRIPTION OF WORK


In this position, you will support and guide families in areas such as parenting techniques, discipline strategies, household management, budget planning, nutrition awareness, and child development. Duties include coordinating and overseeing family visitations on behalf of caseworkers conducting home visits and ensuring the security of client information. You will also be responsible for maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of contacts and performing a variety of general administrative duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 1; or
  • Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
  • An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Wyoming County. If no eligible candidates who live within Wyoming County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
