Description
The Department for Public Health (DPH), Division of Administration and Financial Management (AFM), is seeking a Systems Administrator for our Local Health Operations (LHO) branch. This position will serve as the lead medical coding specialist. It will also interact with all 120 counties in the state of Kentucky and build relationships with those that work in the Local Health Departments (LHDs) in the state. This position will perform medical coding audits, keep all coding information in the system up to date and provide coding training to all health departments. You will also assist with User Meetings, system security requests and process service fee overrides.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High School graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in IT systems administration, IT systems support, or IT systems analysis
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education in computer science, IT, or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in IT systems administration, IT systems support, or IT systems analysis will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis OR a certification in an IT related field will substitute for the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title typically perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

- Serve as Network Systems Security Liaison.
- Serve as LHO Branch Service Desk Coordinator.
- LHD Network Systems Security Resets/Unlocks.
- Answer Help Desk Phone Calls.
- Assist with Onsite Coding Compliance Reviews.
- Update DPH Administrative Reference (AR).
- Update Distribution Lists.
- Perform Other Duties as Assigned.
- Good customer service skills.
- Experience in training.
- Proficient in Microsoft products, including Teams.
- Interpret statutes and regulations as it pertains to the Department and LHD.
