Description
The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court system employs nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks.
The Oldham County 12th Judicial Circuit Court has an immediate need for a Staff Attorney. This position will serve Oldham, Henry, and Trimble Counties.

The Oldham County 12th Judicial Circuit Court has an immediate need for a Staff Attorney. This position will serve Oldham, Henry, and Trimble Counties.
Examples of Duties or Responsibilities of this Classification:
- Review of legal briefs and appellate record
- Perform in-depth legal research and analysis.
- Assist court in preparing, editing and release of opinions.
- Remain current as to changes in the law and recent decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Advanced Degree - graduate of accredited law school
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Graduate of accredited law school and in good standing with KBA. Incumbents that have not yet passed the Kentucky Bar may be considered for a SC Law Clerk position. To be an attorney in the state of Kentucky, one must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, pass Kentucky’s bar exam, and be in good standing with the Kentucky Bar Association. Requiring all law clerks to eventually obtain licensure and distinguishing between staff attorneys and law clerks furthers the credibility of the courts by upholding licensure as the professional standard and expectation.
Additionally, licensure ensures a certain aptitude, a commitment to the practice of law, and adherence to continuing legal education and the Code of Professional Responsibility.
Upon successful admission to the KBA (swearing in), the Law Clerk will reclass to an applicable Staff Attorney role. Excellent formal writing skills. Excellent research skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
