The Office of Policy and Audits is seeking a highly skilled Policy Specialist to support and enhance the cabinet’s legislative and regulatory efforts and to provide support to the Audit Branch. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a strong background in policy analysis and regulatory development who can advise leadership and drive informed decision-making.
The ideal candidate will possess the expertise to evaluate complex legislative and regulatory proposals, coordinate across departments, and act as a key liaison with the Legislative Research Commission and other stakeholders. This role requires a proactive professional who can represent the cabinet in high-level meetings, provide sound policy recommendations, and contribute meaningfully to the development and implementation of impactful government policies and initiatives.
Job Duties Include
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Job Duties Include
- Review and coordinate the creation, modification, updates, and repeal of the Finance and Administration Cabinet policies, procedures, and internal operating guidelines
- Maintain up-to-date tracking of the policy status, communicate with stakeholders, and address inquiries on status or content and move policies through the draft and approval stage.
- Ensure that policies are updated on the required websites and the intranet policy sites and assist with updating and reviewing policies for the electronic acknowledgment portal
- Collaborate with legal and legislative teams to resolve policy questions and provide regular updates to leadership
- Perform Office Administration duties, as needed.
- Assist with audits, such as helping audit staff with audit documentation review and spreadsheet testing.
- Working on audit research projects when needed.
- Assist with administrative duties
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
