Description
The Office of the Attorney General, Department of Child Support Services (DCSS), is seeking a Child Support Specialist II in the Administrative Enforcement Section. The position plays a vital role in the collection of child support through the administrative process by performing advanced child support casework and providing advanced knowledge and guidance to state and contracting official staff, and to child support participants with respect to policy and procedure and state and federal regulations as they relate to the administrative processes.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proficient knowledge of child support casework and processes in relation to administrative enforcement, excellent communication skills, and strong attention to detail. The Child Support Specialist II will work collaboratively with other staff members assigned to the Administrative Enforcement Section, contracting official staff and child support participants to ensure the successful collection of child support through the administrative process.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
EDUCATION: Must complete two years (54 semester hours) from a college or university.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of experience in child support enforcement.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Administrative work, clerical office work, work dealing directly with the public, or experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering Food Stamps, the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Medical Assistance, Child Support, or other public assistance programs will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Performs job duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

- Reviews reports to determine and initiate proper administrative enforcement action.
- Performs child support casework activities.
- Monitors child support cases and initiated administrative actions for compliance and follow-up actions as needed.
- Assists in the interpretation of state and federal regulations and child support policy and procedure with respect to administrative enforcement processes.
- Appears on behalf of the program in administrative proceedings, as appropriate.
- Assists state and contracting official staff in reconciliation of issues related to administrative actions.
- Responds to inquiries from child support participants and state and contracting official staff.
- Advanced knowledge of child support processes and administrative enforcement regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate child support processes to non-child support professionals.
- Proficiency in the child support computer systems and applications, including but not limited to the Kentucky Automated Support and Enforcement System (KASES).
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to identify deficiencies and propose sound and practical solutions.
- Discretion, integrity, and professionalism in handling sensitive or confidential matters.
