Description
This is a daytime shift working 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285-bed long term care facility located in beautiful Wilmore, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.
We are currently seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to work in our nursing department as a Charge Nurse (Infection Control and Preventionist).
Skill and expectations for this position include but are not limited to:
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52116 https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/kar/titles/201/020/070/ http://www.kbn.ky.gov/ Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. - Experience in infection control and data collection including keeping employee vaccine records current, tracks and reports on resident infections and analyzes for trends and patterns.
- Leads Investigations of possible incidences of infection and implements infection control policy accurately.
- Organizes and works with staff development coordinator to facilitate scheduled training and in services with staff to educate on infection control policy and procedures.
- Organizes and facilitates infection meetings quarterly and interprets reports to committee.
