What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Commodity Fragrances?
We are looking for a seasoned professional to join the Finance & Accounting Team at Commodity Fragrances USA, Commodity Retail and its international entities.
In this role, you will be reporting to the Head of Finance and driving the timely and accurate recording, reporting and analysis of the Commodity Entities. You will be leading the preparation and presentation of monthly financial statements and key reports following a rigorous reporting calendar. In addition to month end, you will be working closely with senior management in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and maintenance of the perpetual budget. You will also be responsible for year end closing and preparation of audit and tax work papers to our external tax preparers.
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
-A minimum of 5-10 years solid accounting experience with proven ability to close monthly financial statements and maintain work papers for key balance sheet accounts.
-Eye for detail and experience in reporting for subsidiaries and recording in segments, profit centers and/or cost centers, with allocations and inter-company transactions and reconciliations.
-Knowledge of cost accounting, inventory valuation and international movement for B2B and B2C goods.
-Experience with accounting for international entities, multi currency reporting and consolidation
-Ability to navigate and liaise in an international and multi-cultural, interdisciplinary business landscape
Scope of Position:
The Accountant will be responsible for performing month-end close activities, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing preliminary financial reporting and assisting Members of Senior Management in analyzing and verifying complex financial information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. These essential functions, are including but not necessarily limited to the following:
- Compile and input financial data to GL accounts and document business transactions
- Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain month-end work papers, including asset work sheets, based on Trial Balance
- Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for various accounts and expenses, including Recurring, Prepaid and Accrued Expenses, Cost Allocations and Intercompany Transactions
- Coordinate department & account coding of invoices/contract payments ensuring proper expense recognition
- Support Finance and Corporate Departments with preparation of periodic forecasts & annual budgets
- Analyze and reconcile inter-company invoices and ensure appropriate General Ledger coding and pricing
- Prepare month/quarter-end journal entries and review budgets
- Reconcile Bank accounts and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis
- Monitor Bank Accounts, assist in Cash Flow forecasting and ensure proper posting of recurring payments
- Assist in Annual Review by preparing schedules for internal/external auditors as needed
- Interface with and support corporate finance personnel
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal control policies and reporting deadlines
- Perform additional work and ad hoc analysis as assigned
- Filing of or assisting in the preparation of Annual Reports, Quarterly Income Tax and Building Taxation reports, surveys and compliances
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)
- bachelor’s or graduate degree in accounting or finance
- Knowledge of standard accounting practices, procedures and internal controls
- Experience with a minimum of 2 ERP systems
- Excellent Troubleshooting, Listening and Problem-Solving Skills
- Able to work in a multi-task environment
- Effective oral and written communications
The expected base pay range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 , based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and employee perks/discounts.
