General Purpose

In this role, you will conduct professional field inspections, investigate code-related concerns, and manage cases to ensure compliance with municipal codes, land development regulations, and applicable international codes. Working under general supervision, you’ll play a key part in educating the public, promoting voluntary compliance, and applying fair, consistent enforcement practices.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
The hiring range is $28.46 - $31.62 / Hourly.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Two years of code enforcement work experience to include public interaction, conflict resolution, and familiarity with legal procedures is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (and maintain while employed in this position). Must possess, or be able to obtain, a Basic Code Enforcement Certification through the Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials within two years from the date of hire, and a Housing and Property Maintenance Inspector Certification through the International Code Council (ICC) within one year from the date of hire.

- Holidays: 12 paid holidays each year with the addition of an 8-hour Floating Holiday (in addition to the Floating Holiday that can be earned by participating in the Wellness Program).

The employee must have successfully completed their 6-month Introductory Period for eligibility.
- Recreation Center Membership: Employees and family members are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per person per year.
- Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
