Maintenance Worker

Responsibilities

• Operate grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, hedge cutters, and power tools to maintain lawns, gardens, and landscapes.
• Perform landscaping tasks including planting, pruning, trimming trees, and flower bed maintenance.
• Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Conduct landscape maintenance activities like mowing, edging, fertilizing, and pest management using appropriate pesticide techniques following safety protocols.
• Assist with snow plowing and ice removal during winter months to keep pathways safe for visitors and staff.
• Identify plants, trees, and shrubs to ensure proper care; perform basic horticultural tasks to promote healthy growth.
• Follow safety procedures diligently while operating equipment or handling chemicals; report hazards or equipment issues promptly.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated mechanical knowledge with experience operating hand tools, power tools, and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Prior outdoor work experience in landscaping or groundskeeping is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of landscape maintenance practices including mowing, tree care, gardening, and plant identification.
• Familiarity with irrigation systems, pesticide management, and snow plowing techniques.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for lifting, bending, digging, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence and attention to detail in all tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude toward grounds maintenance and landscaping duties.
