Position Summary
The Controller will be a key financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and driving continuous improvement across systems and processes. This individual will play a critical role in modernizing financial systems, streamlining workflows, and supporting strategic initiatives as the company grows.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical accounting background, proven experience leading system implementations or ERP transitions, and a passion for building scalable processes in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership & Oversight
- Lead all aspects of the company’s accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, inventory, lease accounting and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial statements and disclosures.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all business units.
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Systems Implementation & Process Improvement
- Lead or support the implementation of a new ERP or financial system to improve scalability and automation.
- Standardize and streamline accounting processes across locations to improve efficiency and control.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to enhance reporting capabilities and system integration.
- Identify and implement technology solutions to reduce manual work and increase data accuracy.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment aligned with best practices.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company assets.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with FP&A and operations teams to provide insights that drive financial performance and decision-making.
- Support M&A integration efforts through accounting standardization and system alignment.
- Assist the CFO in developing financial strategies and metrics aligned with company growth goals.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Experience:
- 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3–5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
- Experience in a multi-location or multi-entity organization; dealership, retail, or distribution industry experience a plus.
- Demonstrated success leading system implementations (ERP or financial systems) and driving process improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
