What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable Specialist position at Columbia Safety and Supply?

Location: Columbia, Missouri
This full-time role will play an important part in helping manage our daily credit and collections process. You’ll work to protect company assets, keep cash flow healthy by collecting accounts receivable, and help prevent bad debt. Day-to-day, you’ll review financial documents, assess customer stability, and set credit limits to support both our customers and our business.
Requirements for success as part of our elite Client Services team:
- Quickly follow up on disputes and work with sales and customers to find solutions.
- Support the Credit and Collections Specialist with key accounts and special credit arrangements.
- Help recover outstanding debts by monitoring accounts and taking action when needed.
- Proactively manage aging accounts and determine next steps for delinquent balances.
- Provide clear, timely reporting to leadership.
- Monitor receivables to boost cash flow and reduce risk.
- Ensure consistent enforcement of payment terms across all accounts.
- 1 year of Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
- Willingness and ability to motivate change and operational improvement.
- Motivated self-starter with strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Must possess the ability to work autonomously.
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
