JOB SUMMARY
The Game Warden will protect human life and property by enforcing Tribal Laws; conserve, enhance, and restore diverse wildlife resources and habitats, deterring criminal activity, and assisting with public safety. The Game Warden will also provide protection and management programs for enjoyment and appreciation of the wildlife resources, for present and future generations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Game Warden will enforce the Natural Resource Code Article 1 & 2; Fish and Game-Law & Order Code Article 8; Control of Livestock movement and branding-Land Code Article 4; Off-Road Vehicles-Health & Safety Code Article 8; Disposal of Solid Waste-Law & Order Code Article 9; Civil Proceedings (Trespass)
· Execute warrants issued for violations of the above-mentioned articles
· Serve subpoenas issued in matters arising under the above-mentioned articles
· Search without a warrant any boat, vehicle, box, game box, or any other packages when there is probable cause to believe that wildlife or parts thereof are possessed in violation of law
· Inspect all wildlife taken or transported and seize all wildlife taken or possessed or showing evidence of having been taken in violation of any provision of the Natural Resource Code
· Seize firearms, devices, and equipment used in taking wildlife or intended to be so used in violation of any provision of the Natural Resource Code
· Conduct routine patrols of the reservation boundaries and conduct routine fishing & hunting permit checks including bag limits
· Conduct creel census and perform chemical test on reservation waters
· Assist fish and wildlife managers with projects on the reservation
· Deter and prevent trespassing on the Reservation and remove trespassers in an orderly and expeditious manner
· Maintain and protect natural resources, historic objects and artifacts
· Game Wardens will be under the direct supervision of the Chief Game Warden or designee
· Familiar with Federal and State Fish and Game laws
·Conduct of a Game Warden is expected to be professional and ethical, displaying a high standard of conduct while on duty or off duty
· Must reside within the exterior boundaries of the Colorado River Indian Reservation
· Must maintain a landline telephone or cell phone at all times
· On call 24 hours a day
· Follow established Tribal policies and those outlined in the Colorado River Indian Tribes Employee Handbook
· Will be required to work holidays, weekends, and nights
· Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Director or designee to fulfill the Department's needs, objectives and/or goals
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Be on call for 24 hours a day
· Ability to get in and out of a truck throughout a shift
· Ability to walk in rough and rugged terrain within the exterior boundaries of the reservation
· Ability to swim under special circumstances
· Must be able to multi-task
· Ability to handle emergency situations and other stressful work environment and large groups of people while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor
· Ability to manage and resolve conflicts
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma or equivalent GED
· Must pass a driving proficiency test
· Current and valid state issued driver's license
· Insurable
· Must pass a medical physical examination and physical agility test
· Submit to a thorough background investigation conducted by the department or any other agency designated by the Department
· Must pass required Law Enforcement screening psychological and/or polygraph examinations
· Successfully pass reference checks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Prior successful completion of a law enforcement academy
