What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technician position at Colorado OBGYN Partners, PLLC?
DEPARTMENT: Ambulatory Surgery Center
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
JOB SUMMARY: The Surgical Technician is responsible for assisting with surgical procedures in the operating room. They work closely with all involved staff to communicate with patients before and after the surgery and ensure their health throughout the procedure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up the instruments and equipment that is required for the scheduled procedure.
- Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during procedure
- Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings
- Sterilize equipment and take inventory ensuring there are enough supplies for the procedure
- Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables to prevent injury to patient and personnel
- Assist the Surgeon by passing instruments and sterile supplies throughout the procedure
- Take count of all instruments and supplies both before and following the procedure
- Maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgery
- Follow relevant safety guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- A certificate or associates degree from an accredited surgical technology program
- Licensed in the State of CO
- Must be honest and ethical
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal, written and communication skills
- Must be comfortable working under pressure
- Current BCLS certification.
