REPORTS TO: Medical Assistant Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant will help the Provider in the diagnostic testing, examination, education, and treatment of patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome patients by greeting them when escorting them to their exam room.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit.
- Perform preliminary physical tests (take blood pressure, weight, height and temperature) and record information in patient chart
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Counsel patients by transmitting physician’s orders and questions about surgery.
- Educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions.
- Update and maintain all digital client records.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate professional work behavior by following guidelines as established by policies and procedures
- Knowledge of data entry systems and computer skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to prioritize and perform a multitude of duties in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Ability to be versatile in all areas of responsibility and accommodate numerous situational types.
- Strong customer service skills.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Certified as a Medical Assistant in the state of CO or equivalent experience.
