The Maintenance Reliability Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the reliability of critical equipment and infrastructure across all CCS chemical distribution facilities. This role ensures minimal equipment downtime, supports safe chemical handling practices, and implements standardized, cost-effective maintenance strategies aligned with regulatory compliance. A key component of this position is collaborating on cross-site projects with Operations and Engineering related to equipment upgrades, system installations, and facility improvements. The Maintenance Reliability Manager collaborates with operations, EHS, and engineering teams to ensure maintenance practices enhance safety, reliability, and business continuity. This role also manages external vendor relationships to maintain high-quality service levels and operational reliability.

JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance strategies across multiple chemical distribution sites, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Evaluate current maintenance procedures and implement standardization aligned with hazardous materials handling best practices and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Schedule maintenance activities to minimize operational disruptions, ensure product integrity, and support customer service objectives.
  • Analyze failure trends in pumps, valves, tanks, instrumentation, and packaging equipment to identify and address root causes.
  • Deploy tools like Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) to reduce repeat failures and enhance system performance.
  • Recommend upgrades or modifications to systems used in chemical transfer, storage, and metering for improved safety and reliability.
  • Take on special projects and assignments as needed, supporting strategic business initiatives, technology adoption, or organizational development.
  • Lead and manage capital projects related to equipment and maintenance improvements across the network of CCS facilities.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and milestones while aligning with operational, regulatory, and budgetary requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams, including operations, safety, and third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on the installation and commissioning of new systems and verify that deliverables meet regulatory, performance, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with site leaders and maintenance teams to ensure alignment with company standards and site-specific needs.
  • Facilitate communication and best practice sharing across sites to foster continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership to troubleshoot complex issues, supporting safe and efficient resolution.
  • Define and track KPIs such as equipment uptime, maintenance response time, and failure rates across all distribution sites.
  • Use data analytics tools to identify trends, prioritize maintenance needs, and improve decision-making.
  • Produce and present performance reports that identify risks and opportunities for reliability improvement.
  • Develop and enforce standardized maintenance practices across sites, including documentation and procedures related to chemical handling systems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, repairs, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Support audits and reviews by regulatory bodies and internal compliance teams.
  • Oversee vendor selection and manage service contracts related to pumps, instrumentation, control systems, and facility maintenance.
  • Ensure vendors comply with chemical safety standards and site-specific entry and service requirements.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and pursue continuous improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets across locations, with a focus on reliability, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor maintenance-related expenses and identify cost-control measures without compromising quality or safety.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with chemical safety, environmental, and occupational regulations.
  • Lead safety reviews and promote a culture of hazard awareness, procedural adherence, and incident prevention.
  • Partner with EHS professionals to ensure maintenance activities do not disrupt safe storage and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience is required.
  • 5 years in chemical distribution/chemical manufacturing or logistics industry is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance or reliability roles in chemical distribution, chemical manufacturing, logistics, or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site maintenance programs and capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical transfer systems, tank farm operations, instrumentation, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., NFPA, API, DOT).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects from planning through execution.
  • Strong organizational, budgeting, and time management skills.
  • Experience managing contractors and third-party services in a safety-sensitive environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively across operations, engineering, and EHS teams.
  • Ability to influence and train site-based staff and share best practices throughout the network.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
