Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for dispatching, inventory management, freight optimization, load shifting, and monitoring common carrier performance within the Transportation Division. This role works extensively with internal departments across the Colonial organization as well as external partners.
This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires quick thinking, flexibility, follow-through, and thorough communication. The Logistics Coordinator will demonstrate Colonial’s core values of Integrity, Service, Entrepreneurship, and Family and will report directly to the Logistics Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Supply Management
- Manage customer inventory levels by analyzing sales trends to determine appropriate reorder points.
- Monitor product supply availability across multiple regions.
- Execute real-time supply sourcing and purchasing decisions from primary, secondary, and alternate terminals.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to maintain adequate product inventory for all customers.
- Facilitate all customer and sales order requests, including order creation, dispatching, and processing.
- Understand and manage asset utilization to ensure full load optimization and efficiency.
- Execute real-time decisions related to driver and asset availability.
- Ensure deliveries are completed within mandated and established timelines.
- Ensure driver execution meets Colonial’s operational and safety standards.
- Coordinate daily with Fleet Maintenance regarding asset inspections, routine maintenance, and repair needs.
- Maintain working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of department software and systems.
- Communicate effectively and thoroughly with internal teams and external partners.
- Support departmental initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in terminal dispatch, logistics, or customer service preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based applications
- Strong communication, planning, organization, and tracking skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments simultaneously
- Demonstrated flexibility and creative problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively propose solutions
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or equivalent experience in a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in terminal dispatch, logistics, or customer service role is preferred.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and web-based applications.
- Availability for on-call rotations during nights and weekends and holidays is required.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and develop creative solutions to challenges.
- Ability to operate independently given direction and bring ideas and solutions to issues raised.
- Strong communication, planning, tracking, and organizing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver multiple activities and assignments simultaneously.
