The Paint Prep Technician plays a key role in preparing vehicles for the refinishing and reassembly process. You’ll ensure each vehicle is ready for paint with precision and attention to detail, supporting a smooth production flow and top-quality finish.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Review each repair order carefully before beginning work.
- Complete all vehicle paint preparation processes, including sanding, feather-edging, and priming.
- Prime, edge, or jam replacement parts as needed.
- Properly block panels for refinishing and mask vehicles to prevent overspray.
- Apply correct primer coats according to specifications.
- Follow OSHA guidelines and all safety procedures, including hazardous waste disposal.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive tasks and handle objects over 50 lbs.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and stoop as needed for repairs.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and depth perception.
- Exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, and noise; must be able to wear PPE including a respirator.
