SUMMARY
The Paint Prep Technician plays a key role in preparing vehicles for the refinishing and reassembly process. You’ll ensure each vehicle is ready for paint with precision and attention to detail, supporting a smooth production flow and top-quality finish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review each repair order carefully before beginning work.
Complete all vehicle paint preparation processes, including sanding, feather-edging, and priming.
Prime, edge, or jam replacement parts as needed.
Properly block panels for refinishing and mask vehicles to prevent overspray.
Apply correct primer coats according to specifications.
Follow OSHA guidelines and all safety procedures, including hazardous waste disposal.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Effective communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Perform repetitive tasks and handle objects over 50 lbs.
Bend, kneel, squat, and stoop as needed for repairs.
Vision requirements include close, distance, and depth perception.
Exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, and noise; must be able to wear PPE including a respirator.
