What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Simulation Lab Technician (Part-Time) position at College of Southern Idaho?
The part-time Simulation Technician provides technical and operational support for healthcare simulation activities under the supervision of the department chair of nursing and in collaboration with course faculty. Responsibilities include the preparation, operation, maintenance, and repair of computerized manikins (hardware and software), task trainers, and associated audiovisual and multimedia systems.
The Simulation Technician also serves as a simulator operator by programming, testing, and executing simulation scenarios in collaboration with faculty, ensuring that all simulation environments and equipment are properly prepared to support teaching and learning outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and support a variety of healthcare simulation technologies and equipment.
- Serve as a simulator operator by programming, testing, and running simulation scenarios in collaboration with faculty.
- Prepare simulation environments to ensure all equipment, supplies, and technology are appropriately set up for scheduled activities.
- Maintain technical proficiency in the operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and replacement of simulation equipment and related systems.
- Monitor and communicate facility, equipment, and technology needs to the Clinical Simulation Coordinator to support optimal lab function.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to faculty, instructors, and staff in the use of simulation technologies.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in healthcare simulation.
- Assist with inventory management, including tracking, stocking, and routine updates of supplies and equipment.
- Promote a collegial and professional environment when working with faculty, staff, and students.
- Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree required and Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with technical software and hardware.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, systems, and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing program needs and priorities.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population.
- Ability to work under while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Commitment to teamwork and adherence to institutional policies and procedures, including those outlined in the CSI handbook.
- Ability and willingness to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on simulation lab and program needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training or experience in healthcare simulation technologies and/or pedagogy.
