A commercial plumbing company in Texas is seeking a Plumbing BIM & Design to support the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. This position plays a vital role in virtual design and construction efforts by developing plumbing models, managing technical documentation, and facilitating collaboration between project stakeholders throughout the design and construction process.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capability to work closely with engineers, project managers, field teams, and trade partners to ensure accurate design coordination and successful project outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support BIM coordination initiatives, model development, and plumbing design activities for commercial construction projects.
  • Create, modify, and maintain detailed plumbing models and CAD drawings using industry-standard software.
  • Develop piping layouts, riser diagrams, sleeve placement details, installation plans, and other technical construction documents.
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to identify and resolve design conflicts.
  • Participate in coordination and constructability meetings to address routing issues, system integration, and project requirements.
  • Prepare and update shop drawings, fabrication documents, and construction support materials.
  • Revise models and drawings in response to design modifications, RFIs, field conditions, and project coordination feedback.
  • Manage drawing revisions, document tracking, and version control throughout all project stages.
  • Assist with site verification activities and support the preparation of as-built drawings and project closeout documentation.
  • Coordinate piping elevations, system routing, access requirements, and installation clearances to improve constructability.
  • Provide modeling and drafting support during estimating, preconstruction, budgeting, and project planning efforts.
  • Work closely with field personnel to ensure design documents accurately reflect construction and installation requirements.
  • Maintain organized digital records, including BIM models, CAD files, project documentation, and coordination records.
  • Perform additional technical design and project coordination assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with BIM processes, CAD drafting, and construction documentation management.
  • Proficiency in software platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar virtual design and construction technologies.
  • Understanding of commercial plumbing systems, construction workflows, and multidisciplinary coordination practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Experience with clash detection, coordination reviews, and integrated project design processes is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Experience preparing shop drawings, as-built documentation, RFIs, and coordination packages is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with office staff, project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and field personnel.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or related coursework in BIM Technology, CAD Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in BIM coordination, virtual design and construction (VDC), CAD drafting, or construction design support environments preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting commercial plumbing, MEP systems coordination, or commercial construction projects is highly desirable.
