Position Summary

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide occupational therapy services that help patients improve functional independence and maximize participation in daily activities. You'll collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary treatment teams to implement individualized treatment plans that support each patient's recovery and overall well-being.

What You'll Do

• Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans developed by a supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), fine motor skills, upper extremity function, coordination, cognition, and functional mobility.
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and functional activities that promote independence.
• Monitor patient performance and communicate progress, barriers, and treatment outcomes to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Document patient treatment sessions accurately and in accordance with facility, state, and federal requirements.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and interdisciplinary treatment teams to support coordinated patient care.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies that promote functional independence.
• Assist with implementing recommendations for adaptive equipment, splinting, positioning, and environmental modifications as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Maintain compliance with all ethical, professional, licensing, and facility standards.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current and unrestricted Occupational Therapy Assistant license or certification in the applicable state.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Preferred

• Previous experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, inpatient, or behavioral health setting.
• Experience working with patients who have orthopedic, neurological, physical, or behavioral health conditions.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.

Position Details

• Full-Time or Part-Time opportunities available
• Day, evening, or weekend schedules based on facility needs
• Assignment length varies by location and client
• Start date contingent upon completion of all required credentialing and facility onboarding

Compliance Requirements

Selected candidates must successfully complete all facility onboarding requirements prior to their start date, which may include:

• Drug screening
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Required facility orientation and training
• Compliance with applicable immunization requirements
• COVID-19 screening or vaccination requirements, if applicable
• Adherence to all facility attendance, confidentiality, and professional conduct policies
