Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Improvement Sciences Specialist (Clinical Quality Improvement Advisor) located in Washington, DC. The specialist will monitor and analyze clinical processes, design and implement quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to the advancement of science-based practices. Responsibilities include conducting research, providing education to clinical teams, applying analytical methods for process improvements, and ensuring effective communication across stakeholders to foster continuous quality enhancement in clinical settings.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Quality Improvement Advisor to support a federal military client in the Washington, DC area. This role focuses on driving performance excellence through the application of structured improvement methodologies, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, deep expertise in process improvement frameworks, and the ability to lead initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, quality, and mission readiness. Travel may be required to Portsmouth VA, San Diego CA, and San Antonio TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support process improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and PDSA/PDCA.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Analyze complex datasets using statistical tools to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder engagements to drive adoption of improvement practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across military and civilian functions.
- Manage projects from initiation through execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Develop and present reports, briefings, and recommendations to leadership.
- Support organizational change management efforts to ensure successful implementation of improvements.
Produce high-quality briefing slides, metric charts, and progress reviews suitable for presentation to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Statistics, or related scientific discipline). Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience applying improvement methodologies and leading projects (experience requirements scale with seniority).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Lean principles
- Six Sigma methodologies
- PDSA/PDCA cycles
- Change Management frameworks
- Proficiency in data analysis, including the use of statistical software.
- Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong facilitation and training capabilities.
- Proven project management experience.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office and collaboration ecosystem, including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Access, and Power BI, complemented by expertise in Adobe Acrobat, with demonstrated capability to leverage these applications to optimize data analysis, documentation, project tracking, and executive-level communication.
Preferred Certifications
