Job Summary:
The company is seeking a Payroll Tax Associate to support payroll operations with a focus on payroll tax processing, tax filings, compliance activities, and issue resolution. This role requires experience handling multi-state payroll tax matters, working with tax agencies and third-party vendors, and managing post-payroll activities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and experienced in payroll tax administration.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process and support payroll tax activities including federal, state, and FICA tax compliance.
• Review, investigate, and resolve payroll tax notices received from state and federal agencies.
• Coordinate with tax service providers, external vendors, and government agencies on payroll tax matters.
• Manage power of attorney documentation and third-party authorization requests.
• Assist with payroll tax filings and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
• Support payroll-related testing activities, system validations, and project initiatives.
• Respond to internal payroll inquiries and maintain accurate documentation of tax-related activities.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve payroll tax issues.
• Maintain compliance with payroll regulations and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of payroll tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and FICA payroll taxes.
• Experience with payroll tax filing and compliance processes.
• Experience working with state tax agencies and payroll tax notices.
• Multi-state payroll tax experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated self-motivation, accuracy, and consistency in completing tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with third-party payroll tax providers.
• Exposure to payroll testing, system implementations, or payroll-related projects.
• Experience managing escalated tax compliance issues and vendor communications.
