We’re creating this new leadership role as our size and technology needs continue to grow. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is a member of our Executive Leadership Team. As Director of IT, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, planning, and management of Coldstream’s information technology functions.
The Director ensures all technology is secure, efficient, and aligned with organizational objectives. This position requires leadership, strong communication skills, initiative, versatility, flexibility, and a keen understanding of the workings of the firm.
We have a hybrid work environment. You’ll work in office three days per week - primarily in Bellevue, but visiting our 3 other Seattle-area offices regularly and traveling to our Oregon and Alaska offices occasionally.

Experience And Skills
In terms of pay expectations, we assess each candidate individually based on their experience and qualifications and offer competitive compensation that reflects the value they bring to the team. Base pay is expected to start between $180k and $220k, plus an annual bonus and a generous benefits package.

Specific Areas of Responsibility Include:
- Strategic Planning: Developing and executing a long-term IT roadmap that supports business growth and competitive advantage.
- AI Readiness: Preparing the firm, through data cleanup and management, to unleash new levels of productivity and operational advantage
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Identifying vulnerabilities, creating and enforcing security policies, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Team Leadership: Managing, mentoring, and developing IT staff - 3 IT technicians who provide white glove support for our 250 employees across 9 office locations - and partnering closely with our MSP, which focuses on back-end cybersecurity and network maintenance.
- Disaster Recovery: Developing and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data.
- Budgeting: Creating and managing the annual IT budget, ensuring wise investments in technology and cost-effective procurement.
- Infrastructure: Managing the maintenance and performance of networks, servers, storage systems, and cloud platforms.
- Vendor Management: Negotiating and managing contracts with external technology vendors and service providers.

Experience And Skills
- 7 years of IT leadership experience at a financial services firm (RIA, bank, family office, brokerage, etc.) with 250 employees, preferably including interaction with FINRA and SEC regulations and SOC 2 compliance
- Experience managing a hybrid cloud and on-premise IT infrastructure and partnering with a Managed Service Provider
- Experience successfully managing AI readiness, cybersecurity, and cloud migration
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IS Management or related field is preferred
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to delegate, think strategically, and solve problems efficiently
