POSITION TITLE: Physical Education TeacherGENERAL DESCRIPTION: To assume an active role in promoting the health and physical education of all students by articulating the current curriculum while following district policy and procedures.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year are in accordance with the current Master Contract and salary schedule. CLASSIFICATION: This position is Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exempt.REPORTS TO: Building PrincipalEVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions in the current Master Agreement between the Colchester Education Association and the School Board. Evaluation will be completed according to the guidelines defined in the district's Differentiated Evaluation Process.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current teacher license with endorsement in health/physical education.
- Knowledge of VT curriculum frameworks and standards based teaching.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player.
- Experience with integrating wellness activities for students/staffs support for collaboration with community agencies.
- Commitment to the districts mission and Strategic Plan.
- Plans, presents, and evaluates the district's written curriculum according to the abilities and interests of assigned students.
- Collaborates with other districtwide health and physical education teachers in the planning and periodic evaluation of our K 12 health and physical education program; develops standards-based units.
- Maintains necessary records and individual student documentation of progress.
- Acts as a resource person to classroom teachers in planning physical education and/or health-related activities.
- Prepares budget and requisitions and organizes supplies as needed.
- Maintains all equipment used in the instructional program and annually updates an inventory.
- Works to promote programs of wellness programs within the community.
- Develops positive school/community relations; continues to develop skills through workshops, clinics, memberships in professional organizations, and/or college courses.
- Demonstrates individual professional growth on a regular basis.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator(s).
