POSITION TITLE
Clinical Assistant Professor of Education
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibilities of the positions include face-to-face teaching assignments at the undergraduate and graduate level in teacher education, including but not limited to instructional strategies, assessment, classroom management, and content-specific pedagogy; opportunities for online (credentialing preferred) teaching possible. Responsibilities include designing syllabi, course materials, and assessments aligned with teacher education program and accreditation standards; supervising and mentoring teacher candidates during field experiences and clinical field placements; engaging in service to the department, university, and profession; and participating in ongoing curriculum development.
This is a full-time, 9-month position with competitive salary and benefits reporting to the Dean of the Wiggins School of Education beginning August 2025.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Teach 4 courses (12 credit hours) per semester (8 courses per year) in the School of Education as assigned by the Dean
- Manage the resources and Brightspace course spaces for each class
- Support student research and career development as appropriate
- Contribute to the ongoing work of assessment and planning for the program and its offerings in general education
- Attend faculty development, faculty senate, and academic affairs meetings and events
- Maintain expectations and standards set forth in the Employee and Faculty Handbooks
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the School of Education
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION
- Preferred qualifications include a terminal degree in Education; ABD and Master's degree 30 will be considered.
- Current and valid South Carolina teaching certification is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in P-12 schools.
- Experience with supervision of teacher candidates and knowledge of teacher preparation programs is preferred.
- Online Credentialing is preferred for candidates who will teach in this modality
- Passionate about teaching and inclusive pedagogy
