POSITION TITLE
Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing and SHINE Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
This position includes teaching (primarily clinical and simulation classes) at the undergraduate level, online and in-seat, and coordinating the SHINE nursing student success program, with a total of 33 credits over the academic year. This position is a 12-month clinical position with a competitive salary and benefits, non-tenure track, with rank and reports to the Dean of the College of Health Professions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of nursing academic programs:
- Teach/Coordinate 12 credits per fall/spring semester and 9 hours per summer term of nursing clinical/simulation courses and SHINE support.
- Manage the resources and Brightspace course spaces for each class.
- Assist students with advising and in developing a plan of study.
- Support student research and career development as appropriate.
- Assist students with practicum placement.
- Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of Nursing curricula.
- Apply evidence from best education practices to student success initiatives.
- Develop evidence-based simulation scenarios that stress clinical reasoning.
- Complete Quality Matters (QM) training and adhering to QM standards for course review, and assisting in course development and online source course development
Serve Nursing programs, University, community and profession:
- Participate in the Nursing faculty, standing committee, task force, and other meetings.
- Participate in Faculty Senate and ad hoc committees and Academic Affairs meetings.
- Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate.
- Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members within Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.
- Advance Coker's educational mission and core values through the undergraduate nursing programs and serve as an advocate for learners at all levels.
- Engage in clinical scholarship.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION
- Earned master's degree nursing.
- Successful teaching and clinical instructor experience in a healthcare setting; Experience in Pediatric, and/or Obstetrical nursing preferred.
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in South Carolina
EXPERIENCE:
- Two years of direct clinical work experience in pediatric and/or obstetrical nursing specialties.
