Role: Linux Administrator
Location: Hybrid (3 Days Onsite) Frankfort, KY
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Summary:
Client is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to support and modernize a large enterprise Linux environment. This role will focus heavily on Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM), automation using Ansible, and improving the stability, security, and scalability of virtualized infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer, maintain, and support an Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) environment, including installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting
• Provision, manage, resize, and optimize virtual machines within OLVM
• Design, build, and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles, with an emphasis on automation built from the ground up
• Utilize Ansible Tower or AWX to manage automation deployments across environments
• Support containerized workloads and virtualization initiatives (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Perform core Linux system administration tasks including user management, file systems, backups, and system monitoring
• Monitor system performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize resource utilization
• Ensure security, compliance, and system hardening in accordance with enterprise policies
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and automation tools
• Maintain clear and current documentation for system architecture and automated processes
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to support enterprise initiatives
Required Qualifications:
• 3 years of hands-on experience with Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM)
• Strong background as a Linux Administrator in enterprise environments (Oracle Linux, Red Hat, CentOS)
• Proven experience with Ansible automation, including playbook development, role creation, and inventory management • Experience working in open systems environments
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, or similar)
• Experience with logical volume management (LVM)
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Scripting experience (Bash, Python, or Ruby)
• Exposure to AIX/UNIX environments
• GitHub or similar version control experience
• Experience administering JBOSS and/or WebSphere
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience
