Overview
Brooksource is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to support and modernize a large enterprise Linux environment. This role will focus heavily on Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM), automation using Ansible, and improving the stability, security, and scalability of virtualized infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support an Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) environment, including installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting
- Provision, manage, resize, and optimize virtual machines within OLVM
- Design, build, and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles, with an emphasis on automation built from the ground up
- Utilize Ansible Tower or AWX to manage automation deployments across environments
- Support containerized workloads and virtualization initiatives (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Perform core Linux system administration tasks including user management, file systems, backups, and system monitoring
- Monitor system performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize resource utilization
- Ensure security, compliance, and system hardening in accordance with enterprise policies
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and automation tools
- Maintain clear and current documentation for system architecture and automated processes
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to support enterprise initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of hands-on experience with Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM)
- Strong background as a Linux Administrator in enterprise environments (Oracle Linux, Red Hat, CentOS)
- Proven experience with Ansible automation, including playbook development, role creation, and inventory management
- Experience working in open systems environments
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, or similar)
- Experience with logical volume management (LVM)
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Scripting experience (Bash, Python, or Ruby)
- Exposure to AIX/UNIX environments
- GitHub or similar version control experience
- Experience administering JBOSS and/or WebSphere
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience
