This role focuses on designing, supporting, and modernizing Microsoft-based systems across on-premises and cloud environments. The Systems Architect III will collaborate closely with IT leadership, project teams, and vendors to ensure infrastructure solutions are secure, stable, scalable, and aligned with agency goals.ResponsibilitiesServe as the technical lead for enterprise infrastructure initiatives, including system implementations, upgrades, and modernization effortsAnalyze existing technologies and recommend improvements to enhance performance, stability, security, and cost efficiencyProvide hands-on, third-level (Tier 3) support for complex infrastructure issuesDesign, implement, and maintain Microsoft enterprise services and backend systemsLead and direct a small technical team, including operational and on-call support activitiesDevelop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and system specificationsWork closely with supervisors, project managers, and stakeholders to define project goals, timelines, and technical requirementsMonitor project progress, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure successful deliveryCollaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and vendors while ensuring adherence to IT standards and policiesRequired Skills & Experience7 years of experience serving as a technical lead on infrastructure or system implementation projects10 years of expert-level Microsoft Windows Server administratioStrong expertise in enterprise Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, ADFS, certificate services, and PowerShell scripting5 years of hands-on experience with Omnissa Horizon and VMware vSphereExperience supporting and maintaining certificates for internal systems and third-party integrationsAbility to document infrastructure designs and processes clearly and effectivelyDesired SkillsAzure subscription and services administrationMulti-factor authentication (MFA) solutionsVirtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environmentsStorage, backup, monitoring tools, and enterprise backend servicesStrong written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to collaborate across teams and demonstrate accountability and initiativeAbout Codeworks: Codeworks has over 25 years of experience serving Fortune 1000 companies in Wisconsin as well as our client's national locations.
