Laboratory Technician I – Oligo Synthesis

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Compensation: $16.50 – $20.50/hour

Overview

A leading life sciences organization is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to join its Oligo Synthesis team. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on laboratory experience while contributing to innovative scientific processes in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and manage oligonucleotide synthesis orders for internal and external customers
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including pipettes, liquid handling systems, spectrophotometers, and centrifuges
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to all safety and quality protocols
• Perform quality control checks and accurately document results
• Prepare, package, and ship completed products in accordance with company standards
• Maintain lab organization, cleanliness, and inventory levels

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry) preferred
• 6 months of laboratory or related experience preferred; strong interest in lab work considered
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise instructions
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with pipetting and/or liquid handling systems
• Familiarity with spectrophotometry or mass spectrometry techniques

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Comfortable working with laboratory equipment and chemical reagents
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses
