We are partnered with a $15B private equity firm focused on energy, renewables, and infrastructure investments across North America, to find their next Private Equity Associate. The firm invests behind complex energy including platform, battery, solar, natural gas, wind, etc.
My client is looking for an Associate to join their Private Equity team in New York City. You'd be actively involved in the investment and portfolio management process across their funds sourcing, conducting diligence, executing, financing, and eventually monetizing deals across conventional power generation, renewable generation, distributed energy resources, renewable fuels, and related platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Support execution of investment, financing, and monetization activities, including:
- Building detailed financial models
- Assisting with due diligence
- Gathering and analyzing industry data
- Assisting with transaction structuring
- Compiling internal materials to inform investment decision-making
- Take an active role in financing activities supporting acquisitions, refinancing's, and/or development including term loans, fixed rate notes, bonds, and tax equity.
- Develop presentation materials for various audiences, such as investment committee memos, rating agency presentations, and marketing materials.
- Help shape internal views on new subsectors and technologies through economic modeling, market sizing, industry research, and company diligence.
- Partner with subject matter teams across energy marketing/trading, asset management, environmental, legal, tax, and accounting.
- Work directly with portfolio companies on financings, development, tack-on acquisitions, and monetization opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, business, engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- 3–4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or management consulting
- Strong leadership, presentation, and communication skills
- A self-starter who can operate with limited supervision in an entrepreneurial environment
- Strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong financial modeling skills
- Excellent quantitative and analytical ability, with solid grounding in corporate finance and accounting
- Full deal-cycle experience (screening, thesis development, diligence, negotiation, closing) preferred
- Familiarity with U.S. power markets preferred
Salary : $135,000 - $165,000
