About the Role

This is not a traditional oversight role—this is a systems-level leadership position where clinical expertise meets strategy, operations, and culture.

As Medical Director, you will oversee and advance medical services across Residential, Withdrawal Management, and Sobering programs. You’ll guide care delivery models, ensure clinical excellence, and partner with operational leaders to drive outcomes, innovation, and sustainable growth.

You will serve as both a clinical leader and organizational strategist, balancing direct patient care with program development, quality improvement, and team leadership.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead and oversee medical services across Residential, Withdrawal Management, and Sobering programs
  • Provide direct patient care and clinical consultation for complex cases
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, CODA standards, and safety protocols
  • Support and guide LMPs, RNs, and medical staff in care delivery

Strategy, Quality & Performance

  • Design and implement medical care delivery models aligned with best practices in addiction medicine
  • Monitor KPIs and medical performance metrics; partner with leadership on outcomes and improvements
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, compliance efforts, and patient safety strategies
  • Define program-level medical metrics and align with organizational goals

Leadership & Culture

  • Supervise and develop medical staff, fostering engagement, accountability, and growth
  • Create a positive, high-performing environment focused on retention and professional development
  • Communicate clear expectations and uphold CODA’s values: collaborative, compassionate, courageous, and respectful

Collaboration & Community Impact

  • Partner with Program Directors and Administrative Leaders on operations and strategic planning
  • Collaborate with external providers, EMS, law enforcement, and community partners
  • Represent CODA’s medical perspective in outreach, partnerships, and system-level discussions

Program Development & Innovation

  • Develop and maintain policies for Withdrawal Management and Sobering services
  • Train staff on evidence-based practices and evolving standards of care
  • Stay current with advancements in addiction medicine and behavioral health
Qualifications:

What You Bring

Education & Licensure

  • MD or DO – or – Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensed in Oregon
  • Current, unrestricted DEA license

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in community mental health, primary care, urgent care, or similar setting
  • Experience working with co-occurring and high-acuity populations
  • Demonstrated leadership in clinical or program settings

Salary : $300,000 - $325,000
