Nature of Work
Under direction performs work of considerable difficulty in nutrition therapy planning and implementation; performs related work as assigned.
The ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, verbal and written, excellent organizational skills, attentive to detail, the ability to work with minimal supervision, be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and have experience managing schedules. Ability to use dietetic counseling skill as well as perform duties associated with the WIC paraprofessional staff; including nutrition assessment, participant-centered education and breastfeeding counseling; provide technical support and training to WIC staff as assigned. The ability to multitask and work through many interruptions and distractions as well as being flexible and able to collaborate with other internal programs and outside agencies are key attributes for a successful candidate.
Please note: This position is funded by the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) grant and is contingent on continued funding.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree is required for applicants who passed the Registration Examination for Dietitians after January 1, 2024.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Required Qualification: Must have an active Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
This position is exempt from overtime.
Note: Individuals in exempt classifications as part time employees may be classified as non-exempt per FLSA law regarding minimum weekly salary requirements.
This position is safety sensitive.
Preferred qualifications: Bilingual (English-Spanish preferred). Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. At least one year of WIC and/or Supervisory experience is preferred. IBCLC or CLC Certified.

Typical Duties

- Plans and provides individual and group nutrition education to high-risk clients, providers, and professional staff utilizing interactive teaching methods and diverse multi-media materials and aids.
- Assesses and documents findings of the nutrition status of program participants; plans and provides counseling and education to participants with high nutritional risk.
- Assists in developing policies and procedures to ensure nutrition objectives and interventions are consistent with accepted nutrition and public health guidelines.
- Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding clinical nutrition issues or concerns, including customizing individual meal plans for program participants with medical needs.
- Develop staff skills and knowledge regarding nutrition and delivery of nutrition services through training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Participates in utilization reviews, quality assurance audits, and data collection relative to nutrition care and education.
- Performs formula authorization, and, as necessary, certification of clients and other duties as required or assigned.
