What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Coordinator position at Coastal Orthopedic & Spine Institute?
Coastal Orthopedic & Spine Institute is a small private Orthopedic & Pain Management practice. We are looking to add a detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our team. The Surgery Scheduler will be responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, ensuring efficient scheduling, and assisting in back office duties.
*Duties*
- Schedule surgeries and coordinate necessary pre-operative tests and appointments
- Communicate with patients to provide detailed information about their upcoming surgeries
- Communicate with hospitals, surgery centers and vendor representatives to make sure everyone has accurate information about upcoming surgeries
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient insurance coverage
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation
- Collaborate with medical staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth scheduling processes
- Handle phone calls with professionalism and excellent phone etiquette
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Assist in other office tasks such as communicating with referral sources regarding patient updates
*Experience*
- Previous experience as a surgery scheduler or experience in surgical practice with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficiency in office management tasks and maintaining organized schedules
- Proficiency in excel, word, and gmail
- Familiarity with medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance authorization
- Billing experience is a plus
- Fluent in Spanish

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
