Construction Engineer 2 – Nuclear Facilities (DOE/LANL)
Location: Los Alamos, NM | 100% Onsite (TA-55) - not necessarily behind the fence
Compensation: $47–$53/hr
Schedule: 4/10s preferred; flexible to other schedules including shift work
Duration: 2-year initial assignment with strong potential for extension and conversion

As a Construction Engineer 2 embedded in the PIE Installation organization, you'll be a critical part of a 24/7 operation supporting one of the most important construction programs in the national laboratory system. What You'll Do
- Perform field verifications and oversee construction activities for compliance with design documents and safety requirements
- Coordinate in real-time between design, engineering, and field installation teams to resolve technical issues
- Track material quantities, verify installation work, and prepare accurate field reports
- Support testing, commissioning, pressure testing, and project closeout activities
- Provide hands-on problem-solving support to construction and installation crews across multiple install groups
- May be exposed to non-hazardous nuclear materials during assignment
- Occasional driving on and off site; LANL vehicles available but personal vehicle or public transportation may also be used
What We're Looking For
- S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
- Bachelor's in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience - or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Working knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials
- Ability to interpret design documents, technical specifications, and engineering drawings
- Proficiency in MS365/Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MS Teams - Teams is essential
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; must be able to work across multiple teams and leadership levels
- Outward-focused, collaborative, and a skilled problem solver (humble, hungry, and smart)
- 100% onsite availability - hybrid only considered in emergency situations
- Electrical background - candidates with vast electrical experience are in high demand for this program
- Glovebox systems experience - a significant plus
- Manufacturing or regulated facility familiarity (DOE, DoD, Navy, pharma, oil & gas, or commercial buildings)
- NQA-1 experience
- Facility-based mechanical systems experience
- Pressure testing or related field engineering certifications
