We are seeking a Project Engineer 2 to support the Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division (PFE-DO) at Los Alamos National Laboratory - home to the nation's primary plutonium research and production facility.
In this role, you will serve as a technically responsible engineer on projects that directly support the United States' nuclear weapons stockpile stewardship mission. You'll work hands-on with customers, design engineers, construction teams, and subject matter experts to deliver compliant, mission-critical facility modifications and upgrades at PF-4 and surrounding facilities.

Compensation & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $59/hr - $65/hr
- Schedule: 4/10 (Monday-Thursday, day shifts)
- Future Support: This position may support a future 24/7 operational environment, including potential weekend day shift coverage (no overnight shifts)
- Location: 100% Onsite - TA-55, Los Alamos, NM
- Meet with facility customers and users to understand project needs and define Scopes of Work
- Develop technical solutions for facility modifications, equipment replacements, layout changes, and new process or equipment installations
- Collaborate with Design Engineers and System Engineers throughout the full project lifecycle
- Facilitate design development, reviews, and acceptance with internal and external subject matter experts
- Support Work Execution and Construction Management during project implementation
- Manage engineering change control and provide technical responses to design deviations
- Ensure all solutions meet user needs and LANL technical requirements
- Complete project close-out activities by compiling documentation per LANL Document Control standards
- Coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines, craft, and maintenance teams as the technically responsible engineer
- U.S. Citizenship (required - no exceptions)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance, including eligibility for unescorted access to secure nuclear facilities
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering or project engineering experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated reliability, ownership, and independent work ethic
- Willingness and ability to work 100% onsite at TA-55 in Los Alamos, NM
- Availability to support future 24/7 operational environment including potential weekend day shifts
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently
- Demonstrated motivation, initiative, and accountability
- Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in a technical environment
