We are looking for an experienced Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join our underground utility crew in Ashland, Virginia.

This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have previous HDD drilling experience.

What You'll Do

• Safely transport the drill to and from jobsites
• Operate a horizontal directional drill to install conduit for fiber optic cable
• Complete bores up to approximately 1,500 feet
• Perform bores 8 inches in diameter and larger
• Read utility locate marks and follow bore plans
• Operate a mini excavator to expose utilities and assist with drilling operations
• Inspect equipment and perform daily maintenance
• Work safely around existing electric, gas, water, sewer, and communication utilities
• Communicate with your Drill Locator throughout every bore
• Complete work safely, efficiently, and with attention to quality

• Class A CDL (Required)
• Minimum 3 years of HDD drilling experience
• Minimum 3 years operating mini excavators
• Experience installing conduit for fiber optic or underground utilities
• Ability to read utility locate markings
• Strong understanding of underground utility construction
• Ability to lift 75 pounds
• Willingness to work overtime when needed
• Reliable transportation
• Positive attitude and team-first mindset
