Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Electrical with deep experience supporting Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power generation projects. In this role, you will serve as a technical authority for electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation, supporting construction, commissioning, and operational readiness across active generation sites.
This position is based out of The Woodlands, TX with approximately 75% travel to project sites. The ideal candidate brings a strong construction background, hands-on turbine expertise, and extensive experience with modern control systems in large-scale power generation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level electrical engineering support for Combined Cycle (CCGT) power generation projects from construction through commissioning and turnover.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for turbine-related electrical systems, controls, and switching activities.
- Support and troubleshoot system controls, switching operations, and I&C interfaces during construction, commissioning, and startup.
- Lead and support field execution activities, ensuring compliance with electrical design, safety standards, and commissioning requirements.
- Interface closely with project management, construction, commissioning, OEMs, and contractors to resolve technical issues and maintain schedule alignment.
- Provide hands-on expertise with Mitsubishi turbine platforms and Emerson control systems, including integration, testing, and commissioning support.
- Review electrical designs, drawings, procedures, and commissioning plans to ensure constructability and operational readiness.
- Support outage planning, system energization, and startup activities as required.
- Serve as a senior technical resource within a small, experienced engineering team, mentoring junior engineers as needed.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience supporting Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) projects preferred
- Candidates with 6 years in a heavy construction or field execution environment will also be considered
- Strong background in electrical systems, controls, switching, and I&C within power generation facilities
- Hands-on experience with Mitsubishi turbine equipment and Emerson control systems
- Ability to confidently classify yourself as a turbine-focused electrical expert
- Proven experience supporting construction, commissioning, and startup activities on large-scale generation projects
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface across engineering, construction, and leadership teams
- Willingness to travel approximately 75% to active project sites
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred
